ACTIVITY 1: ‘COUNTDOWN TO LIFE: THE EXTRAORDINARY MAKING OF YOU.’

Stage 1: Germinal Stage

NormalFor this video, It explains the development of the uterus at the beginning of week eight.  Within 20 hours of the process is two sets of genetic instructors. This means that half of each parent is combined to create a unique genetic code for one human.  In week two, every cell is basically. It starts to get new identities and begin transform into over 400 different cell type to make every part of the body. For week three, the body is beginning to take shape, fold and creating a tube. The spinal cord is formed. The tiny muscle cells are assembling into  new organ. When it arrives in week 6, hands and feet begin to emerge.  It revealing 5 digit of each hand and feet. Lastly, in week 8 the most shocking metamorphosis occurred.
Abnormal
a.MelanieMelanie was born with a genetic disorder called ectodermal dysplasia. This disorder and which two or more of the ectodermal derived structures. This kind of disorder can affect the skin, sweat glands, hair, nails, teeth and mucous membranes. So that why, Melaine develop abnormally.Melainie has said that the condition gave more effect to her hair and nail to growth.
b. NellThe case of a 7-year-old girl known as Nell. She has a larger body size and height compared to normal children at that age. In Nell case is inheritance are copies of her father and is the most powerful growth gene. She overproduces a growth hormone called IGF-2.  IGF2 mean insulin-like growth factor 2. IGF2 is highly active during fetal development and it less active after birth. The copy from the father is paternally inherited copy while the inherited from the mother is maternally inherited copy.
c. Da Silva FamilyDa Silva’s family has its own uniqueness. They have six-digit fingers in each hand. It makes their hands bigger than the normal hands with normal fingers.  It will happen because of the influence of the protein that callssonic hedgehog.  If the sonic hedgehog is too much, it makes an extra one finger that makes it 6 digits in each hand.

Stage 2: Embyryonic Stage

Normal  In this video,  Michael Mosley explains the process that happens to the womb. This video describes the process of a specific week during which the womb process took place. In week 8 what happens is inherit genes. It instructs us to identify the womb gender. It is explained that, if the womb is male the process that happens is genes instruction the gonads to become testicles. Gonad is a specialized organ that contains germ cells. These germ cells work to produce the haploid cells needed for generative reproduction. Dihydrotestosterone turns the tubercle into a penis. But, if female, gonads become ovaries. It was not made dihydrotestosterone and tubercle become clitoris. In week 11, the process that happens was legs and arms is moving. The nervous system function is learning to control the body. In week 13,  skin color is a foundation. Melanin was a function this week. It was protects skin cells and reduce the risk of skin cancer by stopping it from absorbing too much ultraviolet light. In week 14, the immune system becomes fully active. Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) detect a telltale trace of viruses within cells. If any, it will be transported to the surface of the destroyed cell. According to Delves (2020), HLA means is an essential part of the immune system and is located on chromosome 6 that is regulated by genes. At week 15, testosterone had a spike in blood. This will fill the brain at a very difficult time in development. Week 23 explain that, a huge amount of a fat, starting to accumulate in our body. This fat will provide the energy needed for the baby’s muscles after birth. They receive it from their mother. Without carnitines, it causes the body’s heart to stop suddenly.
Abnormal
a.Johny (No penis)Johny is one of those born without a penis that does not respond to  testosterone.Itwill make him confused about his gender. When he was born, her parents thought he was a daughter. His name as a girl was Felicita. He realized that he was a man when his attitude was different from that of a girl. he does not like to play with dolls and likes to hang out with men. His body did not produce testosterone need to form the male gender. Generally, he is a man. Supposedly the y-choromosom found in her womb made her a man. But it could not grow a penis in the womb because the enzyme that produces dihydrotestosterone is lack.
b. Nassoro Kasim (Albino)  Nassoro Kassim is 28 years old and is an albino. Originally he was a black man. But due to an incomplete process while in the womb causes him to become albino. Most of the melanocytes present in it cannot produce melanin. Melanocytes function as are the ability to produce and distribute melanin. Melanin is a skin pigment and it can help to protect the skin from UV rays. More melanin can help to block processes in the body that lead the skin cancer. He only produces the pigment that occasionally mole. It makes him have a little protection from the sun.
c. Mattie (Transgender)Mattie is 7 years old and his real name is Mattheus. He is a boy but he thinks that he is a girl. Mattheus is looking like a girl but he is in a boy’s body.  It happened because testosterone made her body male and it did not reach a key point of her brain. Chained genes may influence antical testosterone receptors, which may explain why Mattie feels female.

Stage 3: Fetus Stage

NormalThis episode explaining the events of the womb and affecting one’s future. In the twenty-fifth week, bone formation has become our largest pelvis. We humans need a strong bone structure to support the body.
Abnormal
a. Pregnancy womeni have found that stressful mothers during pregnancy can leave an impression on the baby. It is evident from the experience of a woman in this documentary that she had experienced an unexpected event during her pregnancy. This is because she experienced extreme stress during pregnancy. Thus, these pressures cause cortisol to be released through their bloodstream and cause blood flow to the baby and affect the growth of the fetus during pregnancy.
b.Jannellya nine-year-old daughter, Janelly. She was born without capacity. This is because Janelly does not have a hard bone and causes the cells in her body to not be able to handle it. But what has happened to Janelly is that it is not as normal as the genes in her body that have been damaged so that her soft cartilage has never been as strong as anyone else. Thus, the doctor who treated the Janelly had given her a stimulant to restore her true bone formation.
